For a variety of reasons the number of children who have profound, multiple and complex disabilities is increasing nationally by approximately 1% per annum. The profound nature of these disabilities severely limits the quality of life experienced by the children affected by profound disability and often the extent of their disability is so great as to be life threatening.

Within Herefordshire the number of children with these types of profound disabilities has increased even more rapidly than the national average and as a consequence we urgently need to provide more local facilities with which to improve the quality of life experienced by these children.

The Hydrosense Appeal has been launched to provide specialist facilities in response to local need.
